Mamakoo

Designing a brand identity for a travel app that helps food lovers discover authentic local spots and steer clear of tourist traps.

Project Overview

Scope: Brand Strategy, Brand Identity & Brand Activation

Team: Kat Araujo & Jenn Jiron

Engagement: Full Noon

Mamakoo, founded by Irene Koo, emerged from her profound travel experiences, where she discovered the difficulty of finding authentic food while exploring new cultures.

Frustrated by tourist traps and outdated recommendations, Irene envisioned Mamakoo as a solution, connecting travelers with genuine dining experiences through local insights.

Afternoon Culture partnered with Mamakoo during its initial stages, crafting a robust identity system that captures the adventurous essence of the brand.

We developed a vibrant visual and verbal identity, including a compass-inspired logo symbolizing guidance and exploration. Our collaboration extended to providing strategic support throughout the app's development, ensuring the brand resonated with its target audience.

Mamakoo empowers travelers to confidently navigate the culinary landscape, allowing them to savor every meal, from local favorites to high-end dining experiences, and truly enjoy their journeys.
